Our goal is to create a free mental health support network within the action sports community and beyond by providing safe places to strengthen feelings of belonging, deepen connections, and normalize talking about our struggles and asking for help.

Health care is expensive and hard to navigate.  Finding the right therapist is emotionally taxing in itself.  We aim to provide free and easily accessible resources to help alleviate some of the stress associated with searching for care.

We brush our teeth so we don’t get cavities.  Unfourtunately, once we have a deep cavity brushing our teeth WILL not cure it.  We need to see a dentist, it’s often painful and feels worse before it gets better.  After we heal from a cavity we continue to brush our teeth to maintain our dental health.  We’re All Mental is like brushing your emotional and mental teeth.  We are not a substitute for professional care but we can help guide individuals towards healthy habits that function as preventative care.  If we create a safety net of friends who support each other it becomes less likely that someone will fall through the cracks and start to spiral unnoticed.

Our methods of providing care include but are not limited to:

  • Distributing mental health / recovery focused zines

  • Hosting bi-weekly online support groups

  • Holding a series of in person events across the US and Canada

  • Helping individuals sign up for health insurance

  • Teaching friends HOW to ask for help

  • Occasional free online classes (yoga, physical therapy, sensory integration, physical training, healing your relaxation ship with your body and food.)

  • Composing weekly email with brief informational reading, journaling prompts, and memes

  • Providing a clear path and steps for better self care

Going to a Mental Meetup is always an eye opening and transformative experience. To know we aren’t alone in our struggles is so powerful. Laura’s in-person and printed programming strengthens our community and gives tools and hope to those in need.

It's hard to describe what we’re All mental is, because it really is so much more than just a meeting at a snowboard event. It's a safe space for people, a place where friendships are formed and strengthened. Building community in a time when it Is needed the most.

-Jacob

I went to a handful of in person mental meet-ups at snowboy events before I eventually started occasionally attending the zoom ones as well. The in person ones have become a staple for me as they have allowed me to grow even deeper connections in addition to sharing the stoke while riding the event setups together. You get a glimpse of the personality behind the boarder and I love that! I cherish the quality friendships resulting from this bonding experience so much - sharing both tears and laughter creates deep and lasting connections even if we can’t see each other that often in person. Also hearing others - who I deeply admire for who they are or for their contributions and accomplishments - share relatable struggles just shows that it’s normal to deal with insecurities and vulnerabilities. It inspires me to keep going when things get difficult or also to put in the work and try break out of unhealthy behaviours or patterns!

The Mental Meet up I took part of at Trollhaugen was an eye opener into the world of action sports that I never thought I would see. We were opening up as a community to understand and better help improve each others actions and help create expectance and awareness of emotions that reside in all of us as humans. With this type of meet up, I realized that we all have the power to change somebody’s life, with a simple Conversation   -Erik Leon

The Dig the Park/We’re all mental event at Darkside was epic. Such a powerful, welcoming and supportive environment. Next level hype. My wife and I brought our 4 year old daughter. When she introduced herself to the group everyone cheered for her. For her to have this kind of community at 4 years old beyond amazing. Can’t wait to come back next year to shred and be inspired.” -Kristyn

"When I attended a mental meetup, I was able to show up as my whole self rather than just my snowboarder identity, which was profoundly healing and allowed me to connect to my peers on a deeper level than I had before."

What is a Mental Meetup?

A safe place for people to communicate and share their experiences.

  • You are welcome to leave your video off and your name blank.

  • It’s okay if you’re not ready to share and just want to listen, that is a great place to start!

  • Mental Meetups offer realistic steps for personal growth- IF we put the work in.

  • There is a different inspiring reading each week.

  • We are building a community of people who care about each other's well-being.
